Description

Flood Maps are Changing!

On July 5, 2016, a Letter of Final Determination was issued for parts of Harris County and the coastal communities. This means the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) will become the effective maps on January 6, 2017. There are other flood studies in Harris County currently ongoing that will also result in updated information on the FIRMs.

Insurance Workshop Offered!

To help you better understand where the changes are occurring on the new flood maps, more about the Newly Mapped Procedure and Grandfather rating options, Policy Conversion and retaining customers, impacts of reform legislation and upcoming changes to the NFIP, Texas Windstorm Insurance requirements, and using new tools and resources, Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) has partnered with FEMA and TDI to hold an Insurance Workshop. This information is also valuable to Real Estate professionals, lenders, builders, and surveyors.

There is no charge for the 2-hour workshop and we encourage you to share information about the event with other flood insurance agents, lenders, surveyors, builders and real estate professionals. Sign up here to attend. Space is limited, so encourage others in your office to sign up soon! Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for this workshop.

Pariticpants are eligible for continuing education credits through Texas Floodplain Management Association (TFMA) and Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). For TDI credit, please be sure to bring your TX P&C license number at sign in and reference course number 105646 in your documentation.
